Chapter 6

The Platinum Encore

Six months later.
The roar of the crowd inside the Microsoft Theater was a physical entity, a wall of sound that vibrated the concrete floors of the backstage area.
Chloe Lin stood in the wings, her heart hammering, but there was no fear left in her veins. She wore a stunning, custom-designed outfit that perfectly mirrored her music—a sleek, modern leather jacket layered over a traditional silk hanfu skirt.
The viral live-stream in Chinatown had broken the internet. The public outcry and demand for "Neon Dynasty" had been so massive, so overwhelmingly positive, that the record label had been forced into a humiliating retreat. Desperate to capitalize on the viral sensation, the CEO had fired Marcus, dropped the lawsuit against Leo, and offered Chloe a massive, multi-album solo contract with absolute creative control.
Chloe had accepted, on one condition: Leo Fang was her exclusive co-producer, holding equal rights to every track.
"Two minutes to curtain, Ms. Lin," the stage manager called out, handing her a custom, glittering ear monitor.
"Thank you," Chloe smiled.
She turned around. Leo was leaning against a flight case in the shadows, wearing his signature black trench coat, looking impossibly handsome. He walked over to her, his dark eyes filled with that same, unwavering pride he had shown her on the first night in the rain.
"Nervous?" Leo asked, his hands sliding around her waist, pulling her flush against his chest.
"Terrified," Chloe laughed, wrapping her arms around his neck. "But the good kind. The kind that makes me feel alive."
"You're going to destroy them," Leo murmured, leaning down. "Your grandfather would be so incredibly proud of you, Chloe."
Chloe’s heart swelled with absolute, radiant joy. She had fought the machine, and she had won without losing a single piece of her soul.
She pulled Leo down, capturing his lips in a deep, passionate kiss. It was a kiss that tasted of victory, of late-night studio sessions, and of a love built on absolute, positive trust.
"I love you," Chloe whispered against his mouth.
"I love you too, superstar. Now go claim your throne."
Chloe pulled away, turning toward the blinding lights of the stage. Out there, resting front and center under the main spotlight, was her grandfather’s antique guzheng, flanked by banks of modern synthesizers.
The crowd began to chant her name.
Chloe Lin took a deep breath, stepped out of the shadows, and walked into the light to play her own song.
